San Diego County National Veterans Day Run

Race Details

This race will feature an 11k and 1-mile charity walk for our veterans. The 1-mile walk will start immediately following the start of the 11k. The 11k will be professionally timed, using state-of-the-art Chronotrak timing systems. All runners/walkers will receive the following:

* Race Goodie bag at packet pickup
* Pre-race ceremony honoring our veterans
* Professional Chronotrack timing for the 11k
* Commemoritive finisher's pin - all participants
* 11k finisher's medal (11k participants only)
* Finisher's Certificate
* Finish-line refreshments

Veterans and Active Duty Military Discount

As a way of saying thank you for your service to our Country, Veterans and all active-duty military personnel will receive an $11 basic entry into the 11k timed run or 1-mile walk. Please choose the Veterans or Active-duty military option during registration and enter your branch and dates of service for the discount.

PLUS and PREMIUM Registrations

Registrants who purchase a Plus Registration will receive a cotton participant shirt with a unique design to commemorate the event, and registrants who purchase a Premium Registration will receive a technical-t participant shirt. The Basic registration does NOT include a t-shirt. Registrants who purchase Plus and Premium registration can pick up their shirts at Packet Pickup (early packet pickup excluded) or after the race at the finish line - t-shirts are not mailed out before the race.

Entry Fees

11K Finisher's Medal

We believe in providing quality medals for our events and this year will be no different! Below is an artist's sketch of the 2012 National Veterans Day Run 11K Finisher's Medal. The medal depicts US Marines raising the flag over Mount Suribachi after the Battle of Iwo Jima. All 11K finisher's will receive the medal - even those participating in our virtual run. In addition the medal will be attached to a patriotic 7/8" red-white-and-blue ribbon.

Race Packets and Timing Tag

We will be offering two packet pickup locations this year. Early packet pickup will take place on Thursday, November 8th from 1pm - 7pm at Dicks Sporting Goods, Sports Arena Squaure, 3265 Sports Arena Blvd, San Diego, CA 92110. Only bibs will be available during early packet pickup (if you ordered a shirt, you can still pick it up on race day). Regular packet pickup will take place on Saturday, November 10th from 11am - 4pm at Dicks Sporting Goods, 3514 College Blvd., Oceanside, CA 92056. Dicks has generously provided coupons for all participants, including running shoes if you need to pick up a pair before the run. We can also mail your race bib and timing tag via first-class mail at least 1 week before the race for $3. Alternatively, race-day packet pickup is available for an $11 donation to the Wounded Warrior Project and can be purchased during registration. This race will use d-tag disposable timing chips, which will be affixed to your shoe. Instructions will be included with the race packet.
